CQC7 has been on my wishlist for many years, however I was just not sure of buying it cause of the bad QC and actions feedbacks. Been digging it lately, and found feedbacks that the latest production’s QC has greatly improved, so I am thrilled to give it a shot but the only thing holding me back is the liner lock. Read both sides of reviews that say it wears out pretty fast or it lasts forever. I know lock wear majorly depends on how much ya use it (thumb disk and wave, and I don’t plan to use wave much), but just wanna hear honest feedbacks from the Emerson subforum. I absolutely love the design and how Ernie’s warranty stands behind his products, but I just don’t wanna expect warranty to be a constant part of my experience. Thanks y’all.

The 7 is an OK knife. There are many Emerson models that will be a more efficient cutter.

At the very least. I would get a full size. The mini 7 is pretty useless.

Honestly my favorite probably is the mini roadhouse. Just beautiful design. But dunno when will they start to reproduce it. For CQC 7 just so classic, a simple design full size folder is just so attractive.

The mini road and mini 15 are great. The mini 7 falls waaaaay short.

I'm actually very fond of the mini7 in the waveless version. Stout little bugger, which a lot of folks like now a days (shorter stout folders).

I carry a 7 every day. It's a great knife for doing most of what you need. It is not a slicey knife though. It's a thick knife with a chisel grind, so not for everyone. If you want to cut thin tomato slices while picnicking, this is not the knife.

As for the liner "thing" - I have a bunch of new and used/carried Emersons, and I personally have never had one where lockup got past 70. No issues for me.

Appreciate it, it’s just so hard to choose between a CQC7 and a mini -15. I just can’t pass the tanto on 7, but mini 15’s ergonomic seems really nice

I must be on the ergonomically odd end of the spectrum, but I dislike most of the knives people say have "good ergos." I almost exclusively prefer straight-ish handled Emersons - CQC-6, CQC-7, Tanto, Kwaiken. Only my RHs fall out of that really. I think it's that I worked in professional kitchens for 15 years or so and I am used to a straight no nonsense handle shape.

EDIT: And as for minis, I have had a mini Commander, 7 and A100. I sold them all. Just too small for me.

Can never go wrong with a classic;)
