was looking at a PH2 and was wondering if anyone had photos of them in the original shape. i think the one i am looking at has been altered but i have never seen the knife sooo need some help to make sure i am not getting something that is not really schrade quality thru and thru.

just what i was thinking the knife in question has a bone handle and it just didn't look like regular schrade.

That bone handle could be a special-order or limited-edition kinda thing and make item extra desirable to some. Don't get to thinking that delrin always says "Schrade". Hypothetically, I think I may know what knife you are referring to but due to rules I will only say also look into the "Little Finger" before coming to any conclusions as to "it just didn't look like regular schrade". Cheers

Schrade did make several variations of handle materials.

I have a stag handle PH-1, a wood handle PH-2 and a blue bone handle PH-2 - All factory original.

well we will see made an offer that was a lot lower than they were asking. now for the waiting part. i do hope it is really all schrade if he takes the offer, lol.

Delmas,
Lots of "new" PH-2's out there not made in the USA.
Careful

Delmas, that's the real deal, bone stag handled, it was made as a special edition but I can't recall which right now, DU perhaps, or maybe the decoy series? I'll have to look it up.The price is ridiculously high though IMHO. They can be had for a quarter of that price if you're patient.

Eric

PS- Larry, those Columbus knives are nice!

Those 2 you have with the etchings have the same kinda handle pins as the old Loveless they were modelled on. I like those double rivets. I didn't know they resurrected those in later models. They appear to be mosaic on the other side. Nice

since the seller and i didn't come to an agreement and it is off the shelf so to speak here is the item i was referring to. i think i got lucky in not buying?

Says it came out of factory when they were selling everything they had at the end. Could be a leftover from a production run. I saw a DU PH2 that was just like that with an added handle insert and blade etching or maybe it was meant to look just like that. Ya never know. It seems authentic though. As far as price I think he's out fishing. If someone pays that he laughs straight to bank. I bet he's thinking he could take half that easy imho.

G'day, the PH1 and PH2 with the 24K gold etching are from the American Quincentenary Collection. They also come with a large heavy medallion that I have. The tapered rivets were designed for the Schrade Loveless..."secured with special birdseye rivets of brass and stainless steel"...check out The Quincentenary Collection on Larry Vickery's site Schrades R Us..its on the front panel...extremely limited number made and very pricey! Regarding those birdseye rivets, on the original Schrade-Loveless knife, it wasn't actually a rivet, it was a screw. The brass insets were put in place and the stainless screw was screwed through it into a threaded female piece on the opposite side. Once everything was tightened down, the screw slots were filed off, and you were left with a birdseye rivet. This was done on the insistence of Mr Loveless himself. After Schrade adopted the knife as their own, the screws were replaced with brass rivets that required far less labor since the holes are countersunk to accept the rivet head.

Thanks for the extra info. Very interesting about sheared off screws vs. rivets.

Here are a couple poor quality pics of some of my PH2's with the 24K gold etches. These are Customs of the American Quincentenary Set. Sorry about the pics, I will get some better ones in the day light if anyone wants a closer look.

Yes, white handles on a PH2 is a rarity. As far as I know, none were ever made in white. Schrade did make a white PH1, which was part of a multi maker set of strait knives. I can not remember the name of that set,, maybe American Heritage or something like that.

G'Day mate,
As far as I know, only 1 Set has ever been made. These are customs I had made a few years back. The handle material on the PH2s is Dupont Corian "synthetic marble" and the Center Piece Ph1, is Pre Ban Elephant Ivory. In the past, I owned a couple complete sets of the red delrin handles, one of which was the Serial # 001 Set from the Schrade Factory Collection.
