The Becker 2 and 9 that I bought about 2 years ago had smooth coated blades and the manufacturer's mark was stamped deep into the metal. The BK 16 that I bought a few months ago and the BK 7 that I bought last week have a rougher coating and the stamps are level with the surface of the metal (laser stamped?) Is the change in the coating/stamps across the Becker line or limited to select models like the 7 and 16. Thanks.

All of the Becker Blades now have the new coating and the laser etched logo. They changed this a year or two ago.

The roll stamping can sometimes cause structural weakness in the blade. Not a huge deal but there were a few blades over the years that broke where the stamp was and a few blades bent after the roll stamping. The laser logos fixed all those problems.

Mmmm, sounds like a good excuse to buy another 2 and 9, "just in case."

If I weren't saving for a TM Hunt, I would jump at the chance to pick up a 2 and 9 with the roll stamp......just because. :D

I have a new BK3 with the new coating arriving tomorrow.

But I have never seen a BK5 new coating with the laser etch. I don't think they exist.

My 5 is just over a year old and it does not have the laser etch or the new coating. I've never seen them like that. And, I have been looking...:)
