I read a thread a while back where somebody said the knives from the Custom Shop were not and could not be considered "hard use" like the standard Busse Combat blades. That little comment has been bugging me for a while and so I am seeking a little clarification.

In my mind, I see the blades from the custom shop being of the same construction, only having some additional work done on the finish, as well as fancier scales that we see on a lot of the Ganza blades. I can see some of the wood and bone scales not having the same bullet proof characteristics as the micarta or G-10 scales. Are they still covered under the same warranty though?

If I get a custom shop knife with micarta scales, can I beat the holy hell out of it and expect it to take the same beating that my FFBM can blow off? Will it have the same warranty?

The knives are under the exact same warranty. If your CS knife has synthetic slabs, I wouldn't worry about it in the least. It'll be JUST as durable as anything else. Where people might say there would be a durability difference is in the natural slabs. Wood and some horn just won't hold up as well as Micarta and G10. Still...you shouldn't let that deter you from using a knife you consider perfect for you. Just know that if the natural slabs break or have any problems and need to be replaced, you may not get the same material you had previously.

Regardless, the knife (especially the steel) will always be covered.

I'mGatMan is completely and verifiably correct.

Just poke around here a bit and you'll see plenty of examples of Custom Shop Busses that have seen incredible abuse ... and lived to cut again.

I've got a few myself.;) Heck, one just came back from an extended stay at the Busse Spa and is now at least as good as new.

Yeah, sometimes the thinning of tips due to special grinds and mosaic pins in handles, should be your only concern. But, you will be covered either way! Kinda like the thin tips on the BAD! Some things are better used for certain jobs, but Busse is the top for customer service! Those knives Garth usually has a hand in sharpening or inspecting, as well! Which means they will have the best factory edge possible.

When I get my PD back from Garth---look out concrete and steel pipes!!

A Busse is a Busse, custom shop or production. Beat it until hell itself begs for mercy, then beat it some more...
