I purchased recently a Camillus 16 with a 1946-1950 short line tang stamp. The knife is in excellent condition except the main was a little difficult to open. I used mineral oil a few times as a lubricant and worked it in the joint by opening and closing the blade which helped. However, I noticed that the jigged delrin? (the handles are black synthetic material) pulled away from the frame at the joint slightly. Its like the end of the handle bowed out. I can push it back flush with a lot of finger pressure. There were tiny gaps at the bolsters from shrinkage when I got the knife.
My idea is to use ca and clamps. I don't want to make the situation worse. Any better methods?
Will post pic tomorrow. I really like the knife.
Thanks.
Jerry

If it's a 46-50 era knife than it's not Delrin. The first patient would happen a few years later. Dupont built it's first plant to manufacture Delrin in 1960.
What your describing sounds like something often seen with acetate handles. If so I don't know any solution short of replacement of the scales.

Sac Troop is correct. I call that handle material "shrinky dink", simply because it has that tendency to shrink and curl up. You have two choices. Leave it the way it is and just live with it or if you know a good knife mechanic, have the handles replaced. I have a handful that I've had the handles replaced with Culpepper jigged bone. They look great.

Jerry & Sac troop are right on the money!!

Personally, I would use & enjoy as is.
