http://youtu.be/0nxfHb_J2z8. James Williams has a retention screw on his kydex sheath - CRKT Sakimori.

The retention screw is a concept that appeals to me as I am concerned that under certain circumstances, a slip fit knife in a kydex sheath might fall out.

The question(s) are: 1. what screw/parts would a person use in drilling an existing kydex sheath to add a retention screw, 2. where might the parts be obtained, and 3. is there any problem in drilling kydex? Thank you for your responses.

I've seen tensioners like this on holsters, both leather and Kydex. I don't think you can retrofit an existing sheath with this system as it would require some extensive reshaping. If I were to make one I would mold the tensioning system into the sheath.

But basically it's just a thick rubber washer and a Chicago screw threw it. The spyderco G-clip comes with whats needed.... just requiring a longer screw. Instead of using the spacer between the clip and the sheath you would put it between the sheath halves...

EDIT: To answer your questions
1. A drill, a 1/4 inch drill bit
2. Several websites... just do a goog for Chicago screws
3. No problems with drilling the Kydex, just make sure you clean clean clean, a fleck of that will scare your knife

Sorry, but the more I think about it, the less I think a retrofit is possible.
