Listen, your new here and you have to be patient. Some of us don't come to the forum for days, even weeks at a time. As far as buying knives from EKI, hardly anybody does that anymore, except for paying for custom orders (from about 5 to 10 years ago) or getting a special knife (ECA, etc) that only EKI is offering. We (most of us on the forum) go through a dealer, Bladeforum's exchange, another forum, or an online auction site which will remain nameless (e-slave). The reason for not buying from EKI directly is that we don't want to pay full MSRP. Most dealers are offering the knives at well below what EKI is selling them for.

That's cool with me, Sean, I'll be patient.
I ordered a Gentleman Jim straight from Emerson as I didn't know whether it's a limited edition or not (I asked this question in my first thread, 1400+ views, no answers...) as in Emerson's website, the information is kind of conflicting.
First the Gentleman Jim is shown in the Prestige dealer part where it says something that makes me understand it might be made in limited numbers.
Then you see it in the section where they sell their regular line, and that makes me think it's just a production knife that will be made in good numbers for years to come.
Now what is it? Limited or regular production? I don't know.
I checked at all prestige dealers websites and some have it, some don't. In any case the maximum savings amount to some $20-25, hardly a huge amount of money.
Therefore I decided to play it ultra safe and go straight to Emerson, at least I would be sure they have it in stock.
I haven't been collecting knives since the late 1980s and my passion awoke again this summer, for whatever reason. You don't know how tough it was to find a Persian Tactical Folder (it took me 5 months to track one in great conditions and get it at a good price) and I didn't wanna miss the boat on the Gentleman Jim, in case it was a limited number project.
I normally don't buy knives at full MSRP either, unless special circumstances oblige me to do it (this is only my 2nd knife at full MSRP, the other being a BM Bedlam 8600). I am no fool.
It's as simple as that.
Take care,
Al
