As per your experience, how long have you had to wait to receive an Emerson knife that you ordered straight from the Emerson official website?

Just asking as I miraculously scrounged up enough money to order a Gentleman Jim and wondering how long it would take for the order to be filled.

Thanks for the answers.

Al

My local Prestige dealer has them in stock and will be cheaper than the Emerson site...

I already ordered one directly from Emerson.

Thanks for the reply, but that does not answer my question at all.

So, nobody here ever ordered an Emerson directly from Emerson???

It seems that people in this part of the forum are only interested in diatribes re. Islam.

Good Luck with that.

When you order the knife, the website should tell you if the knife is in stock or not. If you are unsure, give them a call and they can tell you. But they have a quick turn around. Usually 24 hours and then it is in the mail. If out of stock, then good luck. It is always good to call for availability.

Hope that was the information you needed.

Please don't insult those who are trying to help. Just FYI

Thanks for the help in the other post.

Trying to help? Who tried to help me (besides you, that is)? Nobody.
I started two threads: #1 to introduce myself and ask a question. Result? thousands of views, ZERO answers. Thread #2 was to ask a question: constructive and intelligent answers? One, yours. So forgive me, but here I see no people trying to help me.

On the other hand, I see many pages of comments re. political views and Islam.
Therefore what conclusion can be objectively ascertained? That people here are more interested in flame wars re. politics or religion (I'm utterly surprised it hasn't been locked immediately) and rather than the Emerson brand and its products, don't you agree?
And now you tell me that's an insult...Really?

Listen, your new here and you have to be patient. Some of us don't come to the forum for days, even weeks at a time. As far as buying knives from EKI, hardly anybody does that anymore, except for paying for custom orders (from about 5 to 10 years ago) or getting a special knife (ECA, etc) that only EKI is offering. We (most of us on the forum) go through a dealer, Bladeforum's exchange, another forum, or an online auction site which will remain nameless (e-slave). The reason for not buying from EKI directly is that we don't want to pay full MSRP. Most dealers are offering the knives at well below what EKI is selling them for.

That's cool with me, Sean, I'll be patient.

I ordered a Gentleman Jim straight from Emerson as I didn't know whether it's a limited edition or not (I asked this question in my first thread, 1400+ views, no answers...) as in Emerson's website, the information is kind of conflicting.

First the Gentleman Jim is shown in the Prestige dealer part where it says something that makes me understand it might be made in limited numbers.
Then you see it in the section where they sell their regular line, and that makes me think it's just a production knife that will be made in good numbers for years to come.
Now what is it? Limited or regular production? I don't know.

I checked at all prestige dealers websites and some have it, some don't. In any case the maximum savings amount to some $20-25, hardly a huge amount of money.
Therefore I decided to play it ultra safe and go straight to Emerson, at least I would be sure they have it in stock.

I haven't been collecting knives since the late 1980s and my passion awoke again this summer, for whatever reason. You don't know how tough it was to find a Persian Tactical Folder (it took me 5 months to track one in great conditions and get it at a good price) and I didn't wanna miss the boat on the Gentleman Jim, in case it was a limited number project.

I normally don't buy knives at full MSRP either, unless special circumstances oblige me to do it (this is only my 2nd knife at full MSRP, the other being a BM Bedlam 8600). I am no fool.

It's as simple as that.

Take care,

Al

Al,

Good luck with your hunt. I would not worry about the new knife design. Give it a few months, and you will be able to get one, in almost new condition, for a lot less than new. Whenever EKI puts out a new design, there is a mad rush to get it. Then once the "high" wears off, people start to unload them. Besides, waiting and collecting is half the fun.

Cheers!

The info on the EKI site is misleading, and it doesn't ad up. They have the knife as a prestige and a regular run knife under 'The Knives" section. I asked about this and this is their answer:

Dear Sir,

Thank you for your interest in our knives. Only the Prestige Dealers will be
receiving the Gentleman Jim Model. Please let us know if you have any
further questions.

Thank you very much.

I don't' buy it, I think the knife will be a regular production knife at some point.

i put an order in for a cqc-15 that ended up being backordered. They quoted me a almost a month til they were produced again. I told them to put me down for one and about a month later they called and said it was ready.

I'd give them a call and ask them directly. They have great customer service and they're always a joy to talk to on the phone.

I might end up doing just that (=calling them), it's a good idea.

I thought that if you could put the item in your cart and then proceed thru checkout, that it meant it was in stock, but now I have my doubts...
