First post to this forum, very enjoyable to read everyone's posts. Had a question about the steel used in the old Standard model. Got mine in about 84 or 85 and it has been a very good knife, has never shown a trace of rust in all that time. Have not put the knife to hard use and periodically put a bit of oil on the spring mechanism. What type of steel is it? If I get another spyderco will probably want one with the same type of steel. I also have an Endura, got that in 96 or so, it hasnt shown any rust either BTW but for a knife to be going for 18 yrs or so and do as well as the Standard is , is impressive. I've had folders that have begun to rust after only a few months. I've had many knives over the years, sold almost all of them on consignment to raise money back in the 80s but always kept my Spyderco.

John, no, it isnt. Just Spyderco on one side and Seki Japan on the other. Think I got an early one
