Question regarding a Buck

I recently picked up a stag handled Buck knife and I would like some more info on it. It has a gut hook and underneath the Buck stamp on the blade there is the number 191 and something that looks like a C. It has a brass guard with red spacers and came with a leather sheath stamped 191. Since this is a stag handle with a crown still attached, would I be correct to assume that this is a semi-custom knife?

Don,
I did a quick check and did not turn up anything usefull. Can you tell me if the markd after the 191 might be a three sided box instead of a C? Also, is there any paperwork witht the knife? I am looking for a 4 digit catalogue number that may be found in the upc code.
We should be able to find out its origin.

Take care,

Don Rac was kind enough to give us this knife as an early Christmas present, knowing that my loving wife Edna collects the 'unusual' Buck variants (thanks Don Rac!)...

To me, having bought and sold some 500 knives over the last 3 years, including roughly 100 Randall's, I'd say that this is definitely a factory job done by Buck knives as a custom...

In fact, I'd be very surprised if it was a rehandle, as it's just too perfect in all ways...

That said, have you Joe, or any of the other Buck collectors out there, seen a model 191 with a Crown stag handle?

It's configured as follows: Blade, brass hilt, thin red spacer, thick brass spacer, thin red spacer, Crown stag handle...very clean, and very cool! :)

Any help here would be greatly appreciated guys, and thanks in advance...

Mel

Thanks again Don Rac, you rock!

Hehe, if you can find anything about this one you'd find out more about it than I would. I think that's the one knife that's come back to me 3 times because the person that bought it couldn't find anything about it and just said "screw the deal, I'm sending it back." I guess I got tired of that and just 'gifted' it.:)

It'll be one of those knives in the future that has someone going, "wtf?".:D

I have an idea of which knife it may be but a picture would really help nail it down. Is that possible?
Take care,

Did you get the knife pics I sent you just before Christmas? If so, what do you think of the knife now?

Thanks in advance,

Shel
