Question regarding build out list for 112s - #4

In the build out list, it says 112 #4 is recon-Mascassar. What does the recon mean and how does that differ from regular Macassar?

Could it be a reconditioned knife?

I wonder how many people have one of the knives from that list and are not even aware of it.

Most of those probably got sold at the factory store.
I was lucky and actually found the one I was looking for...

I live in the wrong part of the country to be collecting those...

Yes, if you didn't save the box, you might not know it's a build out. I bought almost the whole set from someone. I need #5, which is black paperstone , and #15, which is blue G10. For #4, someone told me on FB that it is Obeche, which would have been the standard material at the time. I kinda think it is Macassar but really don't know.

Since we changed to Ebony from Taylor guitars we had to give any 110 or 112 using the older inlays a new part number. 0110BRS5-B is the 110 version. They are not reconditioned just a way for us to distinguish between knives.
