Question regarding earliest LB5 packaging (box)

Where the very first LB5s shipped in white "Uncle Henry" signature boxes or are there some even earlier "brown box" examples?

I'm guessing they came out right around the packaging change over so I'm not sure though I can't recall seeing a brown-box LB5.

Thanks,

Dave

I don't think they ever shipped in a brown box, but that was a while back. I do know there are LB5's with that older stamp, not with the script Uncle Henry on it. They came in a white box with gold lettering like the LB7's. How about the LB7? I don't think they were ever in a brown box either. The LB8's came in a brown box, don't think I've seen them in white.

Strange isn't it....I have mint LB8 , 7OT and 51OT and LB1's and LB2's etc in the brown boxes, and yet the White Uncle Henry boxes for my Mint early manufacture LB3, LB5,& LB7's,....all manufactured in similar time frames....no rhyme nor reason apparent......Schrade did what Schrade did...Hoo Roo

Thanks for ringing in Larry. That matches what I've seen. LB1 and LB8 in brown boxes and LB3, LB5 and LB7 in white. After that came the "Sharp Idea" boxes if I've got it sussed. Cheers!

i have a 4 pin, serial no. 40611, that came in the white box. go figure, Schrade does make it interesting.

Just to confuse us...

Here's an recent auction for a seemingly "brown-box" LB3:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...4SlplZA%3D&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK:MEWAX:IT

I even asked the seller:

Q. "Does it say "LB3" on the box? Is there anything other than "Uncle Henry" written on the box? Thanks"

His answer:

A. "...Yes. LB-3 is printed on both ends of the box's top..."

This would be the first LB3 I've seen in a brown box but would I think a counterfeit box is less likely than Schrade having yet another exception to their packaging rules.

was just looking at my LB 5's, and was wondering what date if there was one when the tang stamping went from SCHRADE + LB 5 U.S.A. to Uncle Henry SCHRADE + LB 5 U.S.A. Looked at my LB 7's and the change occurred sometime after Txxxxx. but then again my BBxxxx has just the SCHARADE + on the tang stamp. Plus if anyone has an older LB 5 with the two lines i compared them to the three line LB 5's and it appears the length of the blade had decreased?
