I have couple questions regarding knife law in Washington State. Ok here's the situation: yesterday I went to this Evergreen State Festival and watch the Mexican rodeo in Monroe, WA. The security guard over there search my body and took my knife that I always carry for self-protection. it's not a switchblade it looks kinda like this (not exactly the same model but close): http://www.topbrassmilitary.com/Smi...ith-Wesson-45-Serrated-Cutting-Horse-CH008SER

and I'm 21 years old and I actually bought it at Big 5.

And as I left they aint returning my knife to me. I'm just wondering if they gonna take it to police and will they trynna looking for finger prints? Will I get called from the court because of this under any circumstance? Will they put me to jail for this? or are they just simply gonna confisticate the knife?

p.s. those ones that searched me were security guards and they ain't police eventhough there were polices all over the place.

No you're not going to get in trouble.
A) Your knife is legal to possess and carry concealed in Washington State.

B) Security guards are enforcing rules (not laws) for that specific location. Their only concern is to prevent the weapon from getting in. When they find a knife at screening and it is not allowed, you have the choice to turn back and leave, or they take your knife. You don't get it back and the guard probably dropped it in the trash or kept it for himself. Your loss for trying to take the knife into the place in the first place. The guard doesn't care about you going in, only the knife going in.

C) Even if we hypothetically assume for the moment that your knife was an illegal switchblade, when a guard takes it and waives you through, that's the end of it. The police could give a hairy rat's butt about following up on a person who had an illegal knife and the crime lab people who do fingerprints would laugh at such a dumb request. It would be a terrible waste of department resources when there are more important things like burglary and murder to solve.

If you read the fine points of WA law you can carry about any non-switchblade/bailsong you like for utility (outside Seattle) but carrying for self-defense is against the law. It shows an intent to go armed. And, yes, I know you can obtain a pistol permit without a problem. Knives were exempted from the right to keep and bear arms by the WA supreme court some years ago.

Sorry to bring this thread to life but I am new to pocket knife collection hobby and i live in WA state (not seattle) and was wondering is it ok to conceal carry a pocket knife with blade less than 3 inches e.g. Buck55 ?

Can somebody pls point me to some links ?

Thanks.
