Hi, my friend just signed a 6 year contract with the coast guard. He asked me if I had a good quality knife hard use knife that i could sell him before he goes off to boot camp. I told him that if it was possible he should place an order for an xm-18 directly from rick since he has joined the coast guard and that he would probably be able to order one. I told him i would find out for him. So here i am, my question is would he be able to order one before he goes to boot camp? He already signed the contract but im not sure if that means he is active now or not? Ill talk to him after i get a few responses to see if he can provide the proof that he signed the 6 year contract.

Why post on a knife-related forum instead of contacting the company (Rob) directly?

Go their website and click the contact button.

I was told they will have 3.5's ready to ship this December. Rob if I'm wrong please correct me.

Thank you,
Hans

Why post on a knife-related forum instead of contacting the company (Rob) directly?

1. It is not me who is ordering the knife. I am only inquiring for my friend.
2. This is a knife related question regarding a hinderer knife.
3. It is possible that this information may be used by someone else in the future.
4. There are many people on this forum that I figured could probably answer this question without tieing up the companys emails over an inquiry for someone else.
5. I have seen rob answer similar questions on this very forum while he was browsing on his free time.

*If I was wrong to post this question, by all means lock the thread and ill send an email. If so sorry in advance.

Anyways, thank you for the reply my buddy would be very excited if he could get an xm to be his go-to-tool during his time in the coast guard.

It says on his forum page that explains direct ordering to email him from your .mil email address which is what I did. Besides that I don't know how else you would prove it unless you faxed or emailed you contract with PII which isn't a bright idea. I would contact them and ask, I am also trying to get my first hinderer and just went through that process and now I'm in a holding pattern.

Wow! You're reply is much more well organized than your OP :P
There's nothing wrong with turning the forums with questions but with any issue it's always best to google and search the forums before posting a new thread.
It is explained on hinderer website and there is a thread here on bladeforums where Rob Orlando who works for Rick Hinderer explains it in good detail.

You should convince your friend to join the forums and when he gains access to his .mil email tell him to send them an email with what he is looking for and Rob will get back to them ASAP. He's pretty good at answering emails and forum messages.

Good luck with the hunt!

Over Kill,

If your friend was already active duty this would be a "no brainer". But, since it's way early in the process, only Rob can answer this.

Have your friend e-mail Rob, it is the best way to answer this.

I e-mailed Rob about the same question. He basically told me that the xm-24 should be available late sept. Xm-18 Nov-Dec. Things change, so e-mail him. He will get back to you shortly after, and keep the rest of us posted, because I want a Hinderer xm-18 as well.

Forgot to add that you can request g-10 color, flipper, non-flipper. You may have choice of slicer or spano, depending on availablity. All finish is tumbled. No customs.
