I had one of these in the past and it worked great.
I want to pick up some more, but before spending the money can the spark-lite create enough spark to work on natural tinders such as shredded bark or dry grass
Seriously though, a Spark Lite uses a little ferrocerium rod, as far as I know, but it obviously does not generate as many sparks as a Blast Match or even a LMF Scout firesteel. It should still work for you, but will take a little more effort. Remember, people make friction fires with tiny little embers, so you should be able to be successful with a Spark Lite.
It may depend on how fast and vigorously you flick it.
I read a post on here somewhere where a guy said he
lit a candle with a sparklite. My first thought was "BS".
However, I tried it for myself and was able to light a
candle wick with many, many flicks. I about abraded
the skin off my finger in the process but it did work.
