Question regarding very thin knives

Are there any makers on the forum that make very very thin knives? Just measured the fruit knife I was slicing my apple with - it's 1.10mm/0.044" thick. My Spyderco Sage was no match for that thickness! I guess I'm wondering what the thinnest knife you've seen being sold here is.

I would love to have some really thin slip joint folder, but I'm not so partial to the case knife looks. Are there any out there that aren't SAKs/Case/Opinels?

I guess perhaps there isn't such a high demand for super thin folders, but I'm curious nonetheless!

Discuss!

The Spyderco catcherman is .63, I edc an Opinel slim that tapers a lot from 1.38. Perhaps you would like Laguioles.

You could just carry a scalpel... Never needs to be sharpened, either. Just pop a new blade in and keep cuttin'. :)

I've even heard of folding knives designed to use scalpel blades, similar to a folding box cutter.

My suggestion: BM 530
Altough a dagger style knife, I love the slicing ability of this obscene thin blade. Besides the usual Opinels, one of the sharpest knives I own. Also pretty easy to touch up, when "dull".

Best,
Recon8

Benchmade lets you filter knives by blade width, the shoki was my favorite thin blade from them.

Great Eastern Cutlery (including Tidioute and Northfield) make some very nice slip joints. They are particularly known for having excellent (thin) flat grinds. Not only are they thin at the spine, but also at the edge shoulder.

Have a look in the traditional forum for some past threads on GEC knives if you are interested. Almost every pattern GEC has made has its own thread in that forum.
