ihave a ritter gripper in s30v steel the blade looks alot like the sebbie there almost the same size. they have the same steel. i no the sebbie has a frame lock and is titainium but the axis lock is pretty good and is faster to open an close. heres my question, is the sebbie at 400.00 compared to ritter gripper115.00 that much better a knife im not tring to step on any ones toes,i have 2 lg. skirmishes and a cuda maxx so i have used frame locks but im thinking uf purchaseing a large left handed sebbie .im just wandering if the knife is that much better a knife

Depends on what you are looking for. With the Sebenza you are paying for the precision that CRK is known for. In regular day to day use, there is nothing that you can do with the Sebenza that you can't do with the Grip.

Its like the difference between a Rolex and a Timex. They both tell time just fine, what you are paying for is the precision of the craftsmanship and the name. In function there is really no difference.

Sebenza has a hollow ground blade, the Ritter does not. The Sebenza is a simple design so there isn't much to go wrong with it, and it is easy to take apart and clean. The finish is top notch.

I have a large Ritter, love the blade, but I don't like the handle. It doesn't feel that good in my hand, feels cheap and clunky, even though it's plenty strong. I wish the handle was more like a BM710.

i have a large classic sebenza with micarta inlay, double thumb studs.its perfect in every way, fit, lockup, finish, blade everything is as perfect as can be; but i still dont think its worth the 425.00 i paid new for it.i just happen to get it at a time where i had the money to do it.theres nothing wrong with the skirmish or the maxx, those are top notch knives & materials, too.even a mini skirmish would be a more economical choice.

I have to disagree with both those counts. I used to sell watches and ill tell you that a rolex will outlast a timex by about ooooooh lets say......... a couple hundred years. yeah it functions better. and is less prone to damage. There is more there than just style and name brand.

As for a Sebbie. Id rather pry with one of those than a grip and day. Ive never been a big fan of the grip, it seems kind alike a watered down spyderco. Also the axis lock has springs that will break down over time. Key word there over time but its just another thing that can break. A frame lock is much stronger than an axis lock.

As you said for a light use it might not matter, but if the SHTF id wanna have the sebbie.

Also it s afunctional work of art.If you dont get it you dont get it, but give a sebbie a try and i bet youll get it ;)

I wouldn't pay $400 for a Sebenza, there are just too many on the secondary market for a good deal less than that. You may have more trouble finding a lefty though. If you have the cash to spend I'd get the Sebenza. Heck buy a used one for about $270-300 and get yourself the Ritter with the money you saved :p

If you're left-handed I'd say go for the Sebbie, it's worth the extra money in a lot of ways.
