I just picked one up on these esteemed forums. I like it a lot, but have a concern I hope someone can help me with. I have discovered I don't have a lockbar over travel stop in mine. I've been looking at reviews and it appears that one should be inside the scales, but I don't have it. Am I the unfortunate owner of an elaborate counterfeit, or is that simply not on all models. Mine is s45vn all black. It came with a box, but no documentation.

My 3.25 doesn't have a steel insert on the lockbar, so no overtravel stop there. However the large pivot bolt does serve as an overtravel stop.

So, what do I have here? Looking at the space inside the lockbar and I've looked inside with a flashlight and there's definitely not one. I'm not suggesting it's needed, I'm just very much wanting to make sure I have the real deal.

You could drop them a call/email and I bet they'd clear it up. Maybe a change was made.

Is there anything else I should look for? I know a bunch of tricks on CRKs, but I'm new to Spartan blades.

That's very helpful! There's definitely a small section of the lockbar where I can see the large pivot collar functions there.

Looking at the pics on the sales thread, it’s the real deal. You have nothing to worry about, enjoy it !!!!!!!
The two I have are from dealers and look like yours. Evidently, whatever you looked at is old news.

Older models had a smaller pivot on the lock bar side and an overtravel stop on the lock bar. Newer models now have an oversized pivot collar that serves as the stop.

^ This. My older one is as described above; additionally the newer ones have one less standoff as well (2 vs 3).

That's very helpful! There's definitely a small section of the lockbar where I can see the large pivot collar functioning this way, and I have 2 standoffs rather than 3. Also, I didn't distrust the seller, I was hoping we didn't both get taken. I'm certainly enjoying it today! Thanks BF!

This was a change in construction (basically taking features from the 3.25 and applying them to the existing full size) at some point recently. Went from 3 to 2 standoffs at the butt and replaced the overtravel stop with the oversized pivot.
