Moving here so as to not hijack the other thread. In another thread you wrote....

CJ is remarkably competent and brilliant in person. BTW, he is heavily involved in the industry trade organization fighting fakes/counterfeits so I feel better about this problem knowing that capable hands/shoulder are pushing against the wheel.

Is there anything you can share about how Buck and the trade industry is handling the fake/counterfit problem?
Seems like eBay has become a cesspool of counterfits and getting worse all the time with no apparent response.

I hear what you are saying Desotosky!

If you go fishing for Buck knives in the bay about 50% of what comes up is non-Buck & fakes. Someone is always doing some kind of bait & switch crap, buyer beware.

Ebay, is all about making money... They don't seem to care about the counterfeits/Fakes or who gets screwed...

There all about making $$$$$...

Your question is a great one. It should be asked of CJ. You should consider sending him a note. I intended to talk with corporate officer(s) about this topic but failed, when in Post Falls. I was head over heels into fun and the auction site was not on my radar like it is when I am at home. Funny to me, but most of the enthusiasts I met were not on the internet at all. They deal person to person or not at all. Many had heard of this forum but most never looked at it nor the bay. I've met and briefly talked with CJ and found him to be capable, intelligent and forthcoming. I have confidence that he will be able to make headway in this battle. The war, however, appears to me to be unwinnable.

I've been threatened in writing with banishment if I persist against fakes/counterfeits online. I've found ways to avoid fakes and counterfeits, search techniques, so the blatancy is less obvious.

I've posted ways to fight on the net. If I had my way homeland security would kick the doors of all American vendors of fakes and counterfeits at four in the morning. Foreign manufacturers and vendors would get the same from their governments. However, I can't pay for that service, this country certainly can't and I don't think anyone else will step forward any time soon.

What is the answer? Keep up the fight. Don't buy fakes. If you happen to end up with one then don't sell it. Take it out of the commerce stream.

ebay has been gone after in the past for selling items which they knew or should have known was stolen, ie; private guy selling $50,000 worth of new in box baby formula.

Their scruples are not very strong from what I have seen of their business practices.

The real answer is do NOT buy Fakes or even Brand named real made in China knives. Where are all Fakes make....China? In another forum even Boker (Germany) is now selling Fake Becker knives made of 440. Its not just the bay. Many Knife companies got in bed with the devil and now they are getting burned. Not so sure I feel for them all that much.

I care so I can deterring the real from the fake and buy accordingly.
