Hello Kershaw and ZT forum,

First time posting here but I have a serious question that I hope some will answer and or share knowledge

Is Zero Tolerance/Kershaw stopping production on all Automatic knives?

Thanks in advance

I want to make a guess. Because they are so "dangerous" and "violent" that our law makers have decided to help us protect ourselves from ourselves by making them illegal so the market for auto's is shrinking and it is no longer economically viable to produce automatic knives.

Please, please don't get political. that is the last thing we need. I think i know the reason. 1, they don't need autos. Speedsafe is probably as fast or faster with a flipper, and so the only difference is that you use a button instead of a stuff to push. 2. they have competition from people who do autos exclusively and so it is cheaper for them to focus on manuals and assisted knives than on autos.

this is not kershaws opinion, nor do i know this is correct. this is my speculation.

This is probably good speculation, but my guess is also that there are so many laws involved with autos, that it becomes a pain to sell and ship them legally, sometimes I feel like who needs the extra problems involved. So my guess is that politics and laws are the largest reasons.

Capacity has been an issue of late, we had to opt out of quite a few models, auto's being some of them. Just don't have the time.

Don't make it political?? Brother, you can keep your head in the sand or look above ground and see what is happening to us. While I have no doubt that the expanding market of Kershaw and ZT forced the company to pick a path, the governments asinine laws played a large part. Look at New York and their laws......coming to a town near you.

No, laws played no part in the decision.

My head is not in the sand, but if i want to talk politics I go elsewhere. if i want to talk knives, i come here. I understand what is happening, but that really does not matter. not everything revolves around the law.

Thats a shame the Breakout is such a fantastic knife. Now I'm gonna pick up another one just to have.

Saying that a law played a part in a decision isn't getting political and disagreeing with a law isn't getting political. When you say "please don't get political" and mean "please don't mention laws" in a discussion when a law could be a factor, you retard the conversation by removing a possible cause. Laws effect knife ownership, which effect knife owners and therefore are related to knives and will be in knife discussions.

I managed to find a purple breakout for my wife, it is a pretty cool knife. The thing opens with a kick. I've been wanting to get her a purple knife for some time and this is the only one I could find. Now I have to remove the spring to make it legal for her to carry... Thomas would you suggest that they make a purple knife somewhere in the new line up for the ladies?

I ordered the Breakout online from 888 four days ago. I got home from work today and UPS had delivered as my wife put it another "toy". Only 4 days from placing my order to delivery, I'm impressed. This is a fantastic knife, very light weight.
