question?

That is Damascus steel. Do some searching in the General forum and you'll find a bunch of varieties, and as much information.

That pattern is called damascus. It's in the blade itself. A couple metals are taken (which gives you the different colors), and folded over each other again and again until you have a piece of stock that is banned with the two metals. The blade is ground from that, and you're left with neat patterns. Kind of like the rings of a tree. The patterns can be changed by changing the process (not exactly sure how). It's usually a valued option on most knives and when done correctly, can make the blade much stronger. Plus it looks rad-ass.

ok another question...
so any knife that is refered to as having a "damascus" blade will have such a pattern?
i didn't know that

A damascus blade will always have a distinctive look/pattern, but it will vary greatly. It would depend on the process used to make the damascus. Because of the way it is made, no two damascus blades have the same pattern (they may just have suttle diferences).

Thanks guys for clearin that up for me...
See, i was thinkin that Damascus was just another type of blade material... just expensive...
didn't know it was that "special"
thanks
