A friend of mine has offered me a prototype CRK and a second knife. The second knife has box and papers but prototype is knife only. Is $2,500 a fair value for the two pictured knives? I’m in a bit of a pinch so need to be positive.

Thank you! A72EDF3F-835F-4E88-97CA-1F3BA0F77B7F.jpegF49984A3-8DA0-4C60-A316-C517552206FB.jpeg48A47618-A24B-4D72-9983-BCB5F0A25454.jpeg

P does not stand for prototype. I believe it stands for production. It’s an early CRK, desirable but I’ve seen them sold for around $1k. The other one is a carbon fiber knife art exclusive. Not uncommon.

I would not buy them for $2,500

I'll echo the current sentiments and say that's way too much. That Sebenza P (production, not prototype) has been poorly sharpened and was clearly someone's longtime user....still valuable, but doesn't demand top-end collector pricing in that condition. The Knife Art exclusive has a little collectability as both a dealer exclusive and a now discontinued 21 model. Depending on the marketplace you may find people who will pay more for a 21, or maybe not. It does appear to be in much better shape.

If he's really your friend, I'd be in for maybe $1400. $850 for the P and $550 for the KnifeArt 21. I'm not a CRK collector so the P doesn't demand any more than that from me, again especially in what I'd consider "beater" condition. I think $550 is a fair price for the KnifeArt 21, likely S35VN, in pretty nice shape. Your "friend" would be hard pressed to sell this pair for $2500 even on Arizona Custom Knives who would take 25% of that as a consignment fee. The fact that he told you the P means prototype shows that he doesn't really understand what he has nor what the value is/should be.

I agree 1250 would be my max. 2500 is coo coo town. You seem to coming into some grail reeves knives. You’ve listed a few beauties

I would not pay more than $900 for both, because there are newer Sebenza's with newer steels that you could buy for less than $2500. IMO.
