This is an interesting one. I was checking out some sebenzas on the web and noticed the blade geometry was different than mine. Upon further inspection, it appears as though my small REGULAR sebenza has a classic blade instead of the regular blade. It has the regular scales. Is this possible? It was made Nov 22, 2002. I will try and get a digital camera and post some pictures. What do you guys think?
Thanks and have a great holiday season,
John...

I think its more likely you have a blade with an optional swedge added, which would give a profile similar to the classic. I'd still like to see the pics though.

The blade shape/profile on large Classic vs. Regular is very apparent.

The newer small Classic vs. Regular profile is a very slight difference. The spine on the Classic is straight and the spine on the regular has a slight angle change downward about half way along the blade. Even holding side by side they are very similar.

FK

Thanks FK. I don't have another small to compare it to, I was just going off of photos on the web. My blade spine does have a very slight dip down approx half way down, so I guess it is the regular blade. Was hoping maybe I received a "mistake" :) $$$
Thanks guys,
John...

The first biggie is the belly in the blade... The regs have much more of a bulbous curve... The spine thingy is true, sure... but look how much more pointy the classic blade is... There is also a difference in large and small regs... They are not to ratio. The large has more belly. I think there is more in the design weighing toward function... There is less surface area on the small's blade so there is a less tightly curved blade to allow a more multi-task efficient/easily sharpenable design...

...or something like that...

NOT TO MENTION... they ARE still hand ground rignt???
