What do you guys use to strip the black coating off of the hawks?

I use a wire wheel on my bench grinder followed by a lot of hand sanding. :thumbup: I will usually followthis up with a cold blue solution..Works pretty good for me..

Agree with the wire wheel and then belt grinder.

If your talking about Cold Steel hawks, I use paint stripper on the Trail Hawk and Rifleman's but had to hand sand the Frontier. It was some type that stripper didn't remove.

Cold blue works well and I even painted my last one.

Wire wheel on my drill and sanding. I gotta tell ya, the Hawk got smaller. I ordered a sheath from the Sheath Mechanic and had to adjust it. Good luck. EdC
