I’m looking a a couple of new knives just released by Condor, the Rodan and the Bushlore. Both of these are made of 1075 carbon steel, the same steel used in their new carbon steel machetes. I was just wondering how the 1075 stacks up against 1095? How much difference is there, really, in these two steels? I don’t know anything about Condor’s heat treat, or what hardness they’re treated to. Does anyone have any ideas about edge holding of 1075 vs 1095?

Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I have some Boker slippies in 1075. As heat treated by Boker, it's not real different from the same companies and others 1095. You would really have to run it at pretty high hardness ( 1095) before you noticed much difference in wear resistance, which is where your difference would be. At 56-58Rc it's not very noticeable.

It's an easy to sharpen steel that takes good edges. It should be pretty tough too.
