Gentlemen,

My husband recently asked me to do some research on an item he thinks he received as a gift several years ago. I have researched over the internet but am coming up short on finding this particular set/knife so I am turning to you in hopes you can give me (and my husband) some insight about the knife set and what it may be worth. I cannot find any way to drop an image into this thread, so I will just give you a description:

Parker USA 5 inch Folding Lockback
Durable Laminated Hardwood Handle
Heavy Duty Leather Belt Sheath
Premium Grade Arkansas Sharpening Stone
Multi-Purpose Sharpening Lubricant

Barcode 24709 01399 shows: Item A139PG Gift Set

Thank you for any information you can give.

Lany Smith

You have all the information you need to look it up. Just google using the name and item number.

Looking at it, the knife is 1980's, 1985 -1986 period is when Jim Parker bought out Fain Edwards's Alabama operation, and started the Parker USA line. Parker then sold the factory to Bear MGC around 1990-91, and later Bear MGC became Bear and Sons. Bear MGC was still making similar sets under their own name in the early 90's. Value is modest, looking up what Bear MGC stuff is going for on Ebay will give you a general idea if you can't find the Parker right now.

Thank you! That is precisely what my husband wanted to know. He thought it was early 1980s but couldnt find any information that pointed that way. I have relayed the info to my husband and he asked that I relay his thanks. His father, who has passed away, had gifted the knife to him but my husband couldnt remember when. Its a sentimental attachment, Thank you again!

If it's this one, I found it instantly by Googling "Parker Cutlery A139PG Gift Set"
