Questions about a Randall #1 I picked up

Just picked up what I think is an older #1 (not real old though)

Blade is marked Randall Made, Orlando FL.
Any idea when they went from marking them FL instead of FLA?

5 spacers, red, white, black (I think), then white and red. All thin spacers. Any idea of years for that pattern?

Stag handle. Single hilt design, thumb grooves on blade. Also, the top edge isn't sharpened at all. 7in stainless blade.

Sheath has plain silver snaps, marked Randall Made Knives, Orlando, FLA in an oval on the back. Number 7 beneath that. Single leather holder with a snap, no cords or holes for them to hold the blade in. Blackish/grey sharpening stone.

Seems like it's a #1 that was designed to be more of a sporting knife.
Any idea if this is an unusual configuration? Est. date of manufacture? Ballpark value?

It appears unsharpened, some corrosion on the brass from the sheath and small scatches in the stag. Should I try to buff out the brass or leave it as is?

I had a newer #1 5in and traded it off. I really like this one though. Less of a fighter feel to it. If it had a wrist thong hole I think it would be perfect for me. Will Randall install one on an older knife?

I'll probably use it but want to be sure it's not an oddity before I do so. I appreciate the input!

sounds like a model 5 camp and trail to me,yes the shop would install a thong hole for you.

nrj,
I think you're right. I assumed it was a #1 since the sheath was only marked with the length.

Thanks, that helps!

Any idea of est. date of manufacture?

Ohen,

Your knife was likely made between 1985 and 1995, based on the blade stap, spacers, and sheath snaps - the stone type you described is not original to the knife - overall value should be at least $400, maybe a little more...

Hope that helps,

Melvin,
Thanks! What color should the stone be? Trying to learn more about these.

I'm probably just going to use/enjoy it in any event.

Ohen,

Orange/salmon colored stone have been in regular use since '75/76...I'd suggest that you try RMK direct at http://www.randallknives.com/ or eBay...<$10 delivered would be a good price. Some of the dealers have 'em too...

Hope that helps.
