Greetings to the forumites,

I have a question about blade coatings: what's with them? What's the difference between the black stuff on a BM afck and boron carbide, if any? John Greco's crib safe coating? Strider's tiger coat?

Apart from reducing glare, what's the function?

Are there any tips for maintaining the "look" of the coating?

Do they stand up to regular use, or will a blade have to be resurfaced?

Thanks in advance for your answers,

Respects,

Steve

It is my understanding that the strider tiger coating is the left over carbon from tempering the knife they make it look liek a tigher stipe thing b bead blasting sections of th ecarbon away.
