I was told a little bit about a Knife Show coming up in Boise Idaho in the middle of November. I was considering getting a couple tables to sell knife handle wood, but was hoping to get a little input from you guys first.

1. Are you going to the show? As a participant? or a visitor?
2. What do you know about the show? Does it sound like it will be a good one?
3. What is the weather like in Boise middle of November? I would be driving there across Oregon.

I need to make my decision pretty soon so any input is greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Mark

I'm going! This will be my second show and can't wait. There seems to be a lot of big names attending.

Weather will probably be cool but nothing a Southwestern Oregon boy can't handle. Roads should be good unless we get one of those freak storms.

I'll be there to see all you're beautiful stuff. I can't wait, counting down the days. I know Christof of Koyote Knives has a table as well. Trying to set up an Owyhee Mountains backpacking trip in conjunction. Boise is very mild in the winter, days up to 55 and as cold as 30. Little chance of precipitation, though don't be surprised if you get spat on with some on and off rain or a little bit of snow. Boise is a beautiful city. Make the most of it while you're here. Great restaraunts, great trails, great people... You should be able to get by with a softshell jacket or a wool sweater.

I'd like to attend as a table holder Mark, but it's yet to be determined for sure! If I can swing it (read get knives done in time) then I'll definitely be there. :)

I talked to Mike Quesenberry, Bill Burke, Gary House, Chuck Bybee.... lots of folks that are friends and pillars of local knifemaking and they're all excited about this show!

I see many more like my pal Raymond will be there as well... sounds like a really good time!!!

:eek:Wow! A LOT of great Knife Makers are attending that Show. I'd love to go:thumbup:

I think I better go.
I checked their website and it looks like they are planning on me being there.

Everyone is hoping this will develop into THE West Coast show. I will be there and look forward to seeing everyone there. The promoter is working very hard to get the word out about the show. He has some exciting things in the works for the show.

That stretch of road is usually OK in Nov. except for one wild card, crossing the Blues. It can be beautiful or it can be something like what made the Donners eat each other farther south. :barf:

I'll bring extra food just in case.

Does anyone know of the closest decent motels to the show?
Any recommendations where to stay?

I have a table and looking forward to a good show. Theres some real dedicated promoters and makers working on this one. Cant wait.

We are looking forward to the show. I've spoken extensively with David the show promoter. He has some great ideas and I think the show will be successful.

Crossing the Blue mountains should not be bad in November. Make sure you carry an emergency kit just in case. The hardest part is Oregon's ridiculous 65 mph speed limit.

We just booked our rooms at Residence Inn:
http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/boiri-residence-inn-boise-west/
The show special rate is $65 per night which is about half the normal cost. If you call Residence Inn directly be sure to ask for the show special.

I am there along with, Gary House, Shane Taylor, Eric Fritz, And others. I have been across the blues a few times this time of year and never a problem but like was said BE PREPARED. Like was posted above the weather is mild. There has been a deal worked with most of the hotels around for a special rate just ask also free airport shuttle and shuttle to the show.

BurlSource, if you can get a hotel downtown with a shuttle to and from the show, do it... it's worth the 15 or 20 minute commute.

David Jacobson ( show promoter) contacted me the day before the MKA show in Missoula last week. He overnited some of the flyers for this upcoming Boise Show. The flyers didn't show up until 11:00 Saturday morning. I split up half of the flyers with John Doyle to put on his table, the other half on my table. I think it was only about an hour and all but just a few were gone. David is working very hard to make this show work for everyone. Boise is a beautiful place. Weather is usally not a factor. And yes I have a table.

I'll be there too! Looking forward to the show. I think the show has huge potential, and look forward seeing it grow. With a bit of luck, I think it could become what Eugene used to be.
Of course I'll have to deal with Burke, Bybee, Richard, Bump...and that Bing fella....and even possibly Wheeler! WHEW, don't know if I could stand that for a weekend.

Just kidding fellas....I think the world of you guys! See ya in Boise!

David called me on Friday. Looks like I will be getting 2 tables at the show. When I looked at the list of makers I saw there were quite a few with MS and JS following their names.
