hi gents! couple questions with the 301. i bought a 301 with black saw mark handles (delrin?) i like the looks of it, really makes you think of grimy and oily workshops which is where this one is destined to hang out. how come some 301 stockmans have a blue anvil logos while mine has the knife and bolt? also, why does mine have only one handle-liner pin while the anvil has three? mine has an inverted T after the '301.' anything? thanks.

Howdy Gents,
This was a post in a thread in Traditional. I figured I'd move it to the source of all things Buck.

Your 301 was made in 2004, Buck changed the shield from the hammer/bolt to the blue anvil around 2009.

Buck likes to mix it up...:) The black sawcut handled version is considered the classic and has the traditional hammer/anvil shield with more squared bolsters. The blue anvil logo shields are used on the yellow and charcoal versions. The cherrywood chairman versions have an etched signature. The black classic uses the single pin as you say, there has been some variation in the number of pins on the others. I know the charcoal dymondwood dropped from 3 to 2. You can see some of the differences in this set of 302's.

Hank,

If really want to know all things 300. do a search here on the Buck forum for 300 Series or 301s. A little looking and you should have your fill of info.

Yes, good to hear from BC.
