questions about first productions

Hello everyone I'm new here

I've got plenty of blades to share but today something happened that never has before.

I was at a sporting goods store and found a Kershaw I had never seen before.

Its a 1740 ener-g2 number 1 of 500 First Production

I'm not inquiring on its value since it seems that is prohibited, I'm gonna assume its has a decent value.

Just looking for a little more information about first production knives and a little confirmation that I found the gem I thought

Let me be clear I am not selling this blade, I just got it today.

Normally, first production blades are not worth any more than a regular production. Unless you are a collector, then maybe. I would like to see a pic if you have one

Having #1 of 500 doesn't inherently add anything to the value. That said, enough people think it does that reselling it for it's original price probably wouldn't be hard (assuming condition is good). Heck, if you resold it on an auction site like fleaBay anything could happen.

To post pics open a photobucket or similar account. Upload your pics to image hosting site (photobucket, imgur...) then copy the IMG code and paste it in the thread.

Well I can't see that, if anyone else can let me know. Maybe it just needs to load idk my bad

No offense intended, this is just in case....1 of 500 doesnt mean it is the first one made on a production knife. Just means it is among that batch of 500. I'm sure everyone is aware of that.

YES I am not total forum newb!
lol

date says sep 07 sure that don't mean anything either

Perseverance pays. I can't speak for KAI knives but on first production run knives from Benchmade, 1 of 500 would mean it was the first knife in the first production run of 500 knives.

This is what I deduced from what it said, so even if the face value isn't much more than a normal one, it still may be the first knife of that model ever made...
possibly...
right?

If so its value to me couldn't match the face value anyhow.

You have a 1 in 500 chance of it being the first one, same goes for the other 499...1 in 500 chance. To a collector that is collecting 1740's it certainly has more value than a non-first production knife.
