Questions about M2 please help

I have a friend that has got some M2 steel and wants a blade forged from it.Can this be done ? any advice about this steel would be helpfull.In case I am asking a question that has been asked before in the forums can someone please direct me to the thread.....Thanks in advance.....Bruce

Bruce, M2 is a high speed use tool steel, and its air hardening. Im not familiar with it other than that. I imagine that the annealing temp is extremely high as well as the working temp. Would most likely be hard to forge, as the working temp. is likely high and narrow.

So its probably possible to forge it, but it would be a ton of work and definitely take some experimenting on a small piece.

A good guy to ask would be RJ Martin as he has worked with on a stock removal basis, he could tell you much more than I.
