I've had this 112 since the 70's. Hoping someone can give me some info on it, e.g. year, collectable or not, etc. Thank you in advance for any info.

Airedale, welcome to the Buck forum. Nice photos. Your model has the large brass handle pins. Thus, it would have been from the last of the time line stated above. 79 or 80. Still, a good model to own. I owned a Airedale. Good dogs. DM

Thank you! I know almost nothing about Buck knives. That being said, I do know that I bought that knife well before 1979.

I've always had Airedales. Our current Airedale is our 7th. Is your dog a GSP?

i know squat about the 112s other than the sticky threads here. I grew up with Airedales though. my old man loved those dawgs. only dawg hed own when i was a boy. i have fond memories of them while growing up.

It's a nice flat 2 dot with decent wood..I would enjoy it! Do yourself a favor and invest in a nice shieth for carry. That 112 deserves a good (or Custom) shieth. If you spent less than $8.00 for Bucks Spa service and ask for the 'Edge 2000' it will come back from Buck looking amazing and be much easier to sharpen. Only absolutely NIB with correct shieth and paperwork does it have any real collector value. Buck just made to many. If it was one of the very few absolutely rare 2 dot finger grooved models it would be a different story. Most known are fakes made to deceive or employees and/or Customs.

After looking at my data sheets yours is a 5th version 4th variation. The factory tried different pins in 78 before settling on the type you have. Heck, I don't know.
You can pick 76 or 77 if you like. DM

Thank you for the great info. What's a good source for a new sheath?

any Buck dealer or the Buck website sells them as well.

if ya want a time specific one to match the age of your knife....if you're a member of bcci they have a for sale section on their website and I think a want to buy section maybe. this website here does as well. also ebay and places that sell aftermarket.

Mag light makes a combo flashlight/knife sheath that fit a 112 perfectly but not a 110. I believe this is the new version of it.

I checked last night my old one is a MagLight brand one too. If the new one is made to the same quality it will last years.

Ebay has hundreds of listings..Just pick one that appeals to you. I believe you can get a new distressed leather in Black or Brown directly from Buck but call sales to see what's available. I always thought the 112 carried well in a open top shieth..

Great knife. I had one but the 440C steel was tough to sharpen on carborundum, which was all I had in those days. I wore it down from over-sharpening. My current 112 is a Custom Shop model in S30V with oak scales -- gorgeous!
