I had a friend point out an ad in the local paper about motors for sale. He had a 2HP Baldor for $90.00 in the box. Well I called and talked to him about it, figuring it would already be sold. It was a Brand new, still in the plastic in the box, single phase, 3450 rpm Baldor. Turns out he had bought a lot of motors and was just turning them around, he had 19 2 hp!!
I picked one up!
Now the problem: it is not TEFC. I did not feel that that would be a big issue, escpecially for the price. But what method do you reccomend the most for trying to protect an open motor? I have seen about using nylons, but what about heat build-up and melting the materials? A friend suggested using coffee filters. I forgot to ask him about fastening them on. What about using several layers of cheese-cloth? jWould that do the job without worrying about heat hassles?
personally I think I got a good deal, even if I do have to worry about filtering it out. Thank you for your input.
Take care.
