Hey guys, so I plan on going to the New York Custom Knife Show on the 19th, and I just have some questions I was hoping to have answered if possible. I have read their website extensively, and I do not see mention of any manufacturers i.e. spyderco or benchmade being there, so I am assuming they won't be as it is a custom knife show, but I have never been to a knife show before and I just don't really know what to expect. And I don't know if this is inappropriate to ask, but say you win the raffle to get an opportunity at a hinderer, does anyone know what they go for at shows, basically i am working with a budget of around $400 right now and I am just hoping that I will at least be able to get something, I know probably not a hinderer, but like I said I don't really know what kind of pricing to expect. If that is an inappropriate question I will edit and I apologize in advance, just figure the people who would know would be the people who have been to shows which is you guys. So thanks for your time and any help you could give me.

Production companies aren't represented at the NYCKS. It is a true "Custom" knife show. $400 will be able to get you something. Ask questions at the tables. Don't enter a lottery unless you're sure you can pay for the knife you win. There are plenty of makers and dealers to buy from so you should be able to find something you like, but if you want my honest opinion, save up until the ECCKS early in 2012 and buy what you really want. Also, get there on Friday or you're pretty much looking at slim pickings from the maker's tables. As far as your Hinderer question goes, Ricks "table" prices for the non-custom XM-18's are around $385 or so.

Oh don't worry I'll be going to ECKS too. I was thinking about going friday, only thing is its supposed to be like a father son thing and he has work friday, I already took off both days just in case, so maybe ill see if he can take off, I definately don't want to get screwed. I just saw that blue ridge will be there so just in case I can't get a custom I would like to at least get a spyderco or something I like. Also I saw that Ernest Emerson will be there, is it wrong to assume that he will have normal level production stuff as well as customs, and is his raffle for his customs or for all of his knives?

Like I said, production knives aren't really focused on at all. Emerson usually has a hand full of customs and they are gone on Friday. Blue Ridge may or may not have production models for sale. The Strider guys are usually there and they have some of their productions as well as customs. You may be able to find a few Sebenzas scattered around the show at different dealers tables. It ain't called a custom knife show for nothing.
