Just got a BF Sifu {thanks Kevin} the otherday and I have a few ??..

First:
Will WD40 or Lithium lube hurt the teflon? disks the blade rides on?

Second:
While the knife carries well and goes unfelt throughout the dayBUT it is very hard to access due to clip pressure.Has anyone Mod'd the clip to work better?

Last:
Im thinking a breakfront sheath will be a good thing..something that will allow the knife to brought into action with a forward motion..Ive seen Jim March's homemade sheath...Any others out there?

P.S. Jim you were correct on the spring pressure.Gonna find a another soon.

Endura... The best place for sheaths, and believe me he makes very good quality leather sheaths. His name is Gary Graley, and here is his link... Click Here

As for a lubricant, the best stuff I have ever used is Cris Reeves's flurinated Grease. I have used this on everyone of my knives, and it is great. Rainy Vallotton told me about that grease, and that was enough for me. Here is a link to Chris's homepage, and go to accessories... Chris Reeves

The clip I cannot help you with, I'm sorry! I'm sure other people will reply to this thread, and they might be able to help you with that.

I hope I have helped you, and Good Luck!

I'm not sure I understand the problem with the clip. If the clip is too tight on clothing; remove the clip from the knife and place it in a vise. Gently bend the clip so there is less pressure on your clothing. It seems I have to do this with every new knife I buy.

Over on the Spyderco forum the was a thread about neck sheaths for folders. The name Mike Sastre, River City Sheaths in Ohio came up. Colobbfan seemed to think Mike did good work. May want to take a look before you sell the Sifu.

I seem to remember someone saying something about Chiro75 making some good Kydex sheaths and I believe he is listed in the Links section. I hope lithium grease won't damage the teflon disks since I reassembled my Pioneer II with the stuff.

Duck,
I have a SIFU and love it! I used a little of SENTRY SOLUTIONS Hi-Slip Grease around the tang of the blade and it seemed to help alot. That grease really stays put also,...a little went a long way. I applied it with a tooth-pick.

I had kinda the same problem with personal preference of the clip pressure... a little bend and I've been happy ever since.

SIFU is kewl

Silicon or teflon-based grease is best. WD40 will tend to "drive out" whatever good grease is in there and then leave you with very little good stuff in it's place.

If you have "grease with crud in it" in a seriously dirty knife, WD40 has it's place as a "cleaner" with the piece totally disassembled. But then wipe it off and add (small amounts of) the actual lube.

The Sifu's ability to be totally field-stripped and then easily reassembled is a plus.

Jim
