Can someone please tell me the difference in the Strider SnG's as labeled:
SnG Gen 1
SnG Gen 2
SnG Gen 3
SnG Gen 4

Whats the differences in these knives and what makes one SnG more desirable than others? I understand the newer ones have a different pivot that is larger if I am correct. Some help from the experts would be greatly appreciated.
Regard,
Shannon:)

By and large, the difference is cosmetic. My SnG2 has a stonewashed blade, and a single color titanium frame lock, and the other side is black G-10.

The 'larger' SnG is a SMF, not a SnG at all. It is part of a project where mated pairs of similar number are sold to civilians and Marines.

Tourist, I saw an SnG, not SMF, on TAD Gear with an enlarged, "bull" pivot. Probably the same one they use on the SMF, maybe a general upgrading on all the framelocks.

1st Gen were tiger-striped with black/green G10
2nd was the bead blasted blade with black G10
3rd was black blade and black G10
4th is a reproduction of the 1st Generation AFAIK

I've got #54 of the 1st generation and I will never get rid of this knife. It goes everywhere I go!

Coachk pretty much nailed except on the 4th gen. The 4th Gen has an over sized "Bull Pivot". Which is the same kind of Pivot found on the SMF/MARSOC, and AR/GB's. The G10 is a little different on the 4th gen as well, compared to the 1st Gen. It has almost a sort of 2nd Gen G10.

There are also some variations within Gen 1. Some had dimpled G10 and titanium, others smooth. Some had flame coloured titanium, others didn't.

I think there are only 100 of each, excluding special/variations within the same generation.

I really like that tiger stripe pattern. I wonder why more companies are not using it? is it a copyright/trademark issue?

The tiger stripes are done by hand, selective bead blasting.

I doubt its a copyright or trademark issue. Probably mostly cause it would have limited benefits and add cost to production knives.
Though tiger stipes of this type say Strider to me.

Ive seen tiger stripes applied with Boron carbide on Rob Simonich's ravens but he was no doubt welcome to do so by the Strider guys.
Also they were quite different from Stiders stripes.

I'd be kinda pissed to see the idea copped by another company.

I did contact them, and Josh (of their company) refered me to USN (usualsuspects) and left it at that. Not alot of help out of those guys. I couldn't figure out how to register longon over there...weird.

Thanks for the answers so far.

Tiger Stripes ARE Strider's, they're known for them. If I see other makers using them, I feel that maker lacks originality. Rob's stripes on his knives were very unique and I don't believe they were done with beadblasting. Rob had more of a disruptive thing going on, very cool looking I might add!

Uhhh....maybe it's because you were BANNED (again).

I couldn't log on and I've never been to the site before. I've emailed the webmaster 3 times...so I've just quit dealing with it. Whole lot of bullshit.

Its not my fault you refused my registration before I even registered for Bladeforums. If you want to refuse it, go for it, as I was only wanting some information. You can keep your mouth and post all you want on your board, as I can care less now.
