Given the usual response about posts with Strider in them I ask my honoured fellow forumites these questions with great fear and trepidation. PLEASE no flame posts guys - these are genuinely honest questions. I find the latest strider folder the RC their most attractive yet. I just love the very broad blade and high flat grinds, as well as what seems a very well engineered handle. Its good to see a bit less of the blade is taken up by what I always felt was an extremely large choil - losing a lot of cutting length. And I love blades with a recurve. However it comes at a very high price - well above even custom tactical folder makers like Rick Hinderer, Darrel Ralph and RJ Martin. One could get a Lochsa in Damasteel for this price (if you could order one at all that is).
Does anyone on this forum possess this knife and does it have an equivalent level of fit and finish as its price point would suggest (ie perfect). Honest answers please - not party politics!
Can it be taken apart - at least the blade and pivot to clean?
many thanks

And is it worth $600 or would you go with a Sebenza?:D

Seriously though, if you like it buy it. The one I had wasn't in the best condition but YMMV.

I have a Sebenza, and love it , I have a Lochsa, and love that too, I am not remotely interested in anythng of lesser fit and finish - especially for that kind of money. Trying to think out next years purchase and considering Ralph, Hinderer, or Martin - but I thought the RC looked worthy of inclusion in the shortlist - hence the questions

I wanted an RC but ordered a ZT0300 instead for half the price with speedsafe. I'm not saying it's just as good as an RC (thinner blade, warranty doesn't cover prying), but it offers even more cutting surface for its length and seems to be a great buy for the money.

they look very nice - will be very interested how you find them, and yes, they do have a longer cutting edge - surely a good thing for function. Do they have G10 scales over Ti liners or one Ti and one G10 like the SMF? - shame about the tiger stripes though.

If you're looking for the Fit and Finish of the Lochsa and Sebenza, keep your money in your pocket on the RC. Fit and Finish has never been Striders known "thing." As to customs, I'd keep your list in order: Ralph, Hinderer, Martin. I should state here that I prefer RJ Martin's Devastator to anything by Hinderer or Ralph, but I think if fit and finish LIKE the Sebenza and Lochsa is your thing Ralph will come the closest. Hinderer and Martin are on the same level as Ralph in many ways, and in a few perhaps superior (in areas of personal preference mostly); but if you're looking to similar Fit and Finish style of the Seb and Lochsa you have, as I said I think Ralph will be best.
