i have a couple of questions about the switch plier.
first off, can the tools(knife blade, screwdrivers, etc.) be removed and rearranged as with the other SOG multi-tools?
second since its uses a switchblade spring mechanism(at least im assuming it does) should it be kept open when not being carried and when being stored?
thanks

Hi Payback,

I can answer those!

First: Yes, the components can be changed or moved. Just remember, short components in the middle spots and long components in the two outside spots.

Second: I suppose if you want to be really technical, storing it open might be a good thing, but marginal. These tools have been out for well over a year and not one problem has arisen from the tool being left in the closed position. I never use my one-of-a-kind, custom made Gold TiNi SwitchPlier. It just sits on my desk all coiled up and occasionally gets played with. Still springs out like the day I got it.

If you have further questions, just let me know.

I’m going to have to work on these slow response times!

thanks for the reply, thats an awesome TiNi switchplier:eek:
speaking of TiNi, does that stuff eventually wear off after lots of use or is it on there forever?

Hi Payback,

Nope, the TiNi coating is one of the toughest I've seen and won't wear off. For the most part, it should be there for life, in the same condition as when originally bought. Sure, I've seen a few exceptions, but they're just that...exceptions.

Hey Ron, Cool pix of your Switchplier! The handle look like it might be some kind of zytell or polymere or is it the standered alum.(6061)?

How does one determine what optional blades/tools can be put into the Switchplier? For example, I would like to have the Philips AND the Hex adapter.

Chris: The black portion of the handle is aluminum. The exact type, I don't know.

Mksql: You can have both, but another component would need to be removed. Talking with my staff in our Consumer Services Department (at 888.SOG.BEST) will assist you in working out a configuration that will work.
