questions about white delrin, four pin LTD. (LB-7 type)

No clue, but I like the nickel silver bolsters.

If pressed to guess, I would say they are white delrin that never got a scrimshaw. I don't think there was a plain white or off white LB7's like this without some kind of illustration on the side. Some plain beige ones come into question every now and then.

This knife is stamped "LTD." not "SCxxx". Also it's is pure white not "imitation ivory" colour of normal scrims. Maybe it was meant to have something burned on to it but I can't even find other examples of pure white delrin. It's always "imitation ivory" off-white. You may be right though and I thank you very much for your response. Do you have another example of any 5" lock-back with pure white handles that I could view? That might at least give me a starting place for further research. Thanks again -Dave

Dave, I believe Thawk's right, it was likely meant to be scrimmed. Most likely for some special SFO or two, I know I've seen several examples. Here's one, it was for the 1997 Ellenville 4th of July knife. Now these knives were oftentimes made out of leftovers from some other SFO or commemorative knife from the same year, so that might be a good starting point. Just don't assume that it was the only year these were available, the white delrin LB's were available for scrim orders for many years:

i had a Sears LB7 once at least that size. it was white and had no markings on it. didn't Schrade make blades for Sears? i sold it during a garage sale since i really didn't like it. maybe i made a big boo boo.

I'm not so sure about it being for a scrimshaw myself. I also have an LB7 with bright white, NOT ivory-colored, handles. There were definitely some released that were a bit different. I would presume some special order or something. I also have LB7s with smooth (not the sawcut H070) maroon delrin handles, smooth gray delrin, and a black micarta. I also have 7OT's with green sawcut handles and black sawcut handles. I
m thinking I have others but will have to look to make sure. I will try to get some pics of them all soon.

That's exactly like mine no doubt. It could well be an unscrimmed extra from a SFO. I deduced myself from the placement of the lockbar pin that it was '90s (or later) production. Thanks for your response. -Dave

I'd love to see your pics. Can't get enough it seems. Reasons I ask about this is cause I just like to know the story that goes with my knives but even better I like to hunt for vintage ads in old magazines to frame showing the exact knives I have on display and wondered if anyone could easily come up with one if it turned out this was a standard "Limited Edition" (which were never very limited lol) that they advertised at some point. Maybe it is leftovers from a particular SFO or maybe they had many SFOs for white delrin and nickel silver and kept a stock around to be imprinted later. Who knows? Thanks, Dave, for your response.

Yes indeed Schrade did make knives for Sears (Craftsman). I might not have wanted this knife as badly myself were it not the complete opposite of my most valuable LB-7 (a black one with intricate etching on dark blade). It's the contrast that makes it so sharp looking on the shelf imho. Thanks for the response -Dave

OK, here are some of the many faces of Schrade Delrin on the big folders.

Left to right are:

Not delrin, but unmistakably Schrade, GMC tang stamp with black blade
Staglon LB7
Ivory delrin SC507 used for scrimshaws
Black wood LB7
Black delrin LTD
White delrin LTD
Maroon micarta (definitely micarta, I can see the cloth pattern when looking closely)
Gray delrin LTD
Maroon sawcut delrin Heritage H070
Black sawcut 7OT w/o tang stamp
Green sawcut 7OT WITH 7OT tang stamp
Most common Schrade delrin 7OT

DaveT,
The gray one is interesting.. Never seen one I can remember.
Any idea where it came from?

Larry,
All I can tell you for sure is that I got it off ebay from silverladdie. It is marked "Schrade LTD" on the tang just like the white and maroon.
