Just received my Buck Strider Tanto, and I have two questions.
1. There are several indents, extremely small in size. My friend said that it is common when testing Rockwell Hardness. Is this a possible reason for the marks on the blade.

2. On each side of the blade there are bronze washers. But on one side there is one thick washer and on the other side there is several thin bronze washers. What is the reason for this?

Well, I can only comment on mine, but my Striders small washer is one thick single one. As for the small indents...Again, I looked over mine very close and I didnt see any at all. Where are they located on yours?

The only thing a little odd about mine is that the "SB.1" had been double stamped, the 2nd stamp is just to the right of the main one, only with the date code symbol cut off because of the cutout in the blade for blade stop while in the closed position.

The indents or small dimples appear on each side of the blade and several random ones appear near the pivot point of the blade (closest to the handle). Hardness testing or problems with aligning the equipment properly.

It is likely that the indents are rockwell test points. It is a little curious to have more than a couple though. It does happen though. The two thin washers, as apposed to one thick one most likely means your knife was made just after we decided to go to a thicker washer and just before we got the thicker ones in. We would use two thin ones.
Hope this helps.

Mr. Houser, Does using two thinner washers instead of a thick one cause more wear on the thinner washers. Or is it something not to really worry about.
