So far the list is Chiruwa Ang Khola, British Army Service, Kumar Karda, Kaga king to get a variety both size wise and use wise (tool vs weapon).

Are the British and WW2 the same thickness? 18" WW2 is 3/8+ but there is nothing on the site for the British thickness. (Leaning towards the British Service)

Has anyone used the carved silver, garud, or hanuman AK for lighter work? How comfortable are those handles? (I would use those for more of a display than utility)

I've seen the villager utilities for $58 on DOTD. So I would guess than the non blemish would be around $120?

Also been looking at the M43, Kobra, and Chitlangi. But definitely will get one of the AK's.

I'm not sure about the BAS, but the WW2 that I've seen tend to have a relatively thick spine, sometimes 1/2" thick for an 18" length, and they usually run a few ounces lighter than an AK. Some people swear by the WW2 as an all-around blade. The M43 is also good for just about any reasonable usage.

I suggest that you start with just one for your first order. After you heft it for a while, you'll have a much better idea about what is a good length and weight for you, and can make a more informed choice of additional blades.

If you want to start with a blade that is beautiful and good for everything except heavy chopping, consider the Chitlangi. It's a lighter weight than the WW2 and M43, so you can get a longer blade and take it backpacking where weight might be an issue. Yangdu has been posting quite a few Chitlangi as DOTD lately at very reasonable prices. However, they mostly have been in smaller sizes and with the carved wooden scabbards that look great but probably aren't what you'd want to take into the woods.

Whatever you decide on, best thing is to send Yangdu an email and ask if she has something similar in stock. That's more effective than trying to buy from the HI online store, or waiting for what you want to show up as a DOTD and maybe someone else sharks it ahead of you.

I had already planned to order by phone instead of the site once I decided. Waiting for a reply to more specific questions right now.
