I have a large 21 tanto with micarta inlays headed my way and I'm super pumped. I've never carried a tanto but I have a feeling that I'm going to really enjoy that blade profile.

I've heard a lot of people mention that the secondary tip is very useful and I can totally see how it would be. I was wondering, though, about it getting worn and/or rounded from use. Does this happen? Does it come back if you sharpen both edges independently? Is it ok if that happens?

Just wanted to hear your thoughts. Also, any pics, tips or general thoughts would be appreciated as well!

I doubt you'll wear/round the tanto from use. Once you get it, you'll see that the tanto is thick and CRK has a convex grind on it. Yes, it can be worked out if for some strange reason you do round it off.

The 'zaan tanto has become the knife I go to most for EDC. I don't find I find that I use the corner of the two edges any more often or any more aggressively than the rest of the edge. As such, it doesn't seem to show any particularly excessive rounding. It's a great knife and the tanto doesn't create any problem areas in any way (including difficulty in sharpening, and I am a relative novice in that regard).

I've had mine for almost 8 years and never had a problem with the edge being less defined. I also don't sharpen it a lot. I use a steel and strop to bring back the edge to sharpness
