Questions for the mighty Ron

Just have a few quick questions for you Ron, o' Captain of the Piratical Z-Ship.

I recieved the gold TiNi Crosscut to give to my mom for X-mas and I am toying with the idea of having it engraved with something to personalize it. Does the increased rockwell hardness of the coating make engravings more difficult?

The other thing I want to ask is if it is possible for me to get a spare clip-screw for my new (Bobby B's former) Vision. It is just missing one and although it stays on pretty tight I would like to have all the screws there if possible?
I am up for buying a whole new clip if it comes with screws.

I have to say I am very impressed with all the SOG items I have accumulated recantly as gifts for freinds and loved ones. I was so taken with the mini X-ray I got my father I was forced to get myself a vision to keep from steeling his for myself. I have to say I am a bit ashamed because the bodycoat Bobby put on it makes it sooo much cooler than the mini X-ray. But my Dad said he didnt like metal handles and needed a smaller more carriable blade so I think he will be more than pleased....or at least less jealous.

Congrats on your new SOG acquisitions! The infamous Bobby B's Boron Carbide coated Vision has changed hands. You should enjoy that knife! Regarding the screws and clip, give me a call and I'll work something out with you. 888.SOG.BEST/425.771.6230, ext. 228 (good luck if you get my "call screeners" before me). Bobby B was correct in this thread that there are differences in clips and screw configurations on various Visions.

Regarding the engraving on TiNi, personally, I'd avoid it. It is likely harder to engrave, but the greater concern for me is the damage that might occur to the surrounding TiNi. You may wish to talk to a company (like Bodycote) who does these services to seek their professional opinion.
