I found this fixed blade at a gun show. It is in excellent conditon with no rust or pitting on the blade. It was marked 50.00 but I paid 30.00 for it tax and all. Was this a good price. Does anyone know the aprox. age of the knife and is it carbon steel?

For sure a good price.

Check out the list here Winchester73, there were several different 148 variations from 1953 through 1971.

Maybe this one is for Orvet. Mine ia either the 148L or thw 148LWE. Not sure which because I'm not sure what Schrade's term Woda-Edge means or how it looks any different from the 148L.

Well in is not serrated so it must be the 148L. Thanks for the info guys. It was a stoke of luck finding it.

He he, thawk we probably typed at the same time, but I clicked sooner...

Now I'm going back to watch the ballgame.

Is the handle on your knife Wonda-Wood (148), or is is the stacked leather washers (148L)?

What's surprising to me is that a carbon steel knife blade that old is still bright and shiny with no rust.
