Been looking at Holts but don't care for the greens many have. Can I send one to someone to change the color, like to a blue? OR can someone take off the color so it is nude Ti color?

And, would this change the value if I resell?

Thanks.

You can remove the anno yourself. Looked into it once when I was thinking of buying a blue KJ Slysz Bowie.

All you need is some "Whisk Rust Stain Remover" which can be purchased at Lowes/HD, your local hardware store or on Amazon. Whisk contains 3% hydrofluoric acid which will remove the anno color in an instant. It can also eat flesh, so you have to be very careful using it!

There are a lot of videos on the Net about how to remove anno off of Ti/Al using it. Here's just one of them.:

This has to be done before you change color anyway, so you might as well do-it-yourself 1st to see if you prefer the appearance of the plain metal before sending it off for a color change.

Good luck!

Awesome. Really appreciate it. Think I'll try to be patient and find a knife with the color I like. Otherwise, goodbye Ano.

This is what I use to remove ano, very easy:

Whink from Rustoleum is available widely and takes off anodization.

$100+ seems crazy to pay for how easy and quick anodizing is unless it's something really intricate. I don't think I paid that much for a Variac and the rest of my setup when I made it

Who charges $100+ to remove anno?

Above your other post he asked if $100-200 was expected for an ano job. I was referring to that.

I'd guess that's what you might have to pay to get the scales and other parts anno'd another color (w/the cost of removing the original anno included in the proceess like when you get something rechromed) but not just to remove the original anno alone.

If so, then Whisk is certainly the better option.
