alright, after i bought my first knife i found this site and now i get one every once and a while. at the moment i have a crkt m16-12m, which is a very good knife. now im looking at the BM 555, but i have a few questions. one problem with my crkt though is with the lock. whenever i open the blade the lock gets stuck and i have to mess with it a minute to close it, which i think will eventually get me cut. so i want to know if the mini griptilian does that, and would like to know some info about the axis lock, i heard you can easily flip it open like a gravity knife if you do something to it but i am not sure what you do

pull the lockbar back and the blade flips open and closed very easily on an axis.

rub on the lockface and blade tang of your crkt with a pencil, the graphite might help it to stop sticking

thank you!, that graphite thing did the trick. now ill actually be able to use the knife, but im still getting the benchmade. knives are addictive

I have the mini grip bm555, it is an awsome knife, perfect for what it was intended. The blade is heavy on tip strength, yet a great cutter. Benchmade's plastic handles are great, and the axis lock is great. The axis lock excells on griptilian sized folders, smoother than any lock you've ever felt. By pulling back on the bar (with the pointer finger and thumb) you can flick the knife, and the blade will fall open, allowing you to close the lock. I prefer to just use the thumb hole, because the axis lock is very light, and it is amazingly easy to flick the blade open. Buy the 555, you will not be disappionted (although, it is a tiny bit small, and the regular griptilian is a little better at big cutting chores).

I just got my 556 (stud vs. hole) and am very happy with it. It immediately took over as my workday EDC (I work in an office, but go out to the field fairly regularly). Gives me the edge length of my Native III or Delica 4 with less bulk in pocket and, as mentioned, good tip strength for a blade that size. I also love the Axis lock, and it feels good in the hand- no complaints, great knife!

I'm looking to get one but have spent more on knives then i probably should have this month and it's a little above the price limit i set for myself on knives......I'll probably put one on my christmas list.

I handled one at the local sporting goods store and the axis lock was pretty cool...not as fun as the AO on my leek but definately a solid design that will likely last longer.
