Does the Camillus USMC fighting knife have a full tang throughout the handle? I don't really like fixed blades without full tangs, regardless of how solid they may be.

Incidentally, I intend to use this knife for everything but fighting; it seems to be a near perfect utility knife to toss in my toolbox for whenever I need a sturdy blade. They're cheap enough to use for things that I would be unwilling to do with a more expensive knife.

Also, are there any differances between the Camillus version and those made by Ka-bar and Ontario; besides the excellent customer support which seems to be standard with Camillus products?

fishbulb,
Yup, the MK2 Marine Fighting/Utility knife, known by our model number #5684, has a full lenght tang. You can see the pin throught the but cap that goes throught the tang of the blade. This design has stood the test of time, and is very useful for a VERY wide range of tasks. I personally think it is one of the best buys on the market today.

As far as differnces between our knife and KABAR and ONTARIO, ....well ours and ONTARIO's are built to Mil-Spec. The KABAR is not. The KABAR is a nicely finished knife, and comes with a powder coated blade instead of the parkerized finish like ours and ONTARIO's. All are good knives...naturally, I think ours is the best balance of quality, function and price. Either way, you will be well served.

Thanks for the answers Mr. Fennell, support like that is reason enough to get the Camillus.

Does Camillus make a version of the Pilot Knife Model CM-5733 without the sawback design? A 7" blade is a bit large for what I have in mind, I may be better served by the Pilot Knife as long as everything else in the same.
