Questions on ZT 0561 maintenance

Do the ball bearings need to be greased or oiled? Are most of the aftermarket scales cut well enough to fit like the original ones? I saw a hardware kit on a certain website, are they worth the 130$ they're asking for all the screws, clip, lock bar stabilizer disk. And one last question. Should I loctite the pivot or do they tend to stay through flipping? I try not to loctite because I just don't like it.

I lube mine up every couple months and it's smooth enough. The aftermarket scales should be a perfect fit. I don't believe those hardware kits are worth it. I wouldn't loctite it unless you need it!

IMHO lube is all preference. Some makers prefer dry, some makers use grease and other light oil. If it were me since the bearings are spaced so far apart and since they are riding on the titanium I would use a lubricant to reduce wear. I prefer a lighter oil. And to me its more critical to lubricate the detent hole so that the detent ball picks up some lubricant on every opening. As tot the parts kits it depends on what you want it for. If you want to add color to your knife and feel that color is worth the money then usually those titanium parts are machined pretty good and are worth the price. But they offer nothing in the way of performance or significant weight reduction. The fitment of the aftermarket scales is maker dependent and as long as you buy from a reputable person you shouldnt have any issues.

I believe the majority of us run our 0560's without much lube at all. A tiny bit of light oil on the detent track is really all that's needed.

Loctite is up to you but, I enjoy the peace of mind that a small amount of blue affords.

If you're referring to Ti hardware, $130 isn't far off the going price for a full set. Whether or not it's worth it to you is a subjective matter.

A member here by the name of Gnoleb does Titanium hardware and I believe he sells on the bay. Either way, the craftsmanship and customer service is outstanding. Well worth the money paid both in parts and member support.

I've never lubed my 561. I won't unless I end up having to flush clean it some day. IMO, people tend to way over lube knives. It just causes problems. I'd never loc-tite a pivot unless it proved necessary. On a good knife it shouldn't.

Just be sure you buy a scale from someone with a good return policy.

Moved to Maintenance, Tinkering, and Embellishment.
There is no real maintenance required other than occasionally sharpening the blade as needed.

I took it apart today and saw no lubrication anywhere, so I'll leave it that way. I just wiped all the parts down with a dry paper towel to remove the black from the pivot coating wearing off and that was it.

I've only had my 0561 for a few months now....
I know (KNOW) that Kershaw/ZT uses a very light oil on their products - I wouldn't oil the knife unless completely necessary, and even then, I would use very very little. Oil attracts dust/lint from your pockets and that gunks up the knife.
Like many others have said, I'd only use Loctite if it's necessary. I have found that a little bit of blue Loctite is helpful every now and then, but not every time I take the knife apart.
As for the hardware sets, again, that's entirely up to you. I personally think that $130 is A LOT for some titanium hardware, but that's just my opinion. I'd rather take that money and put it towards a new knife, or buy some custom scales for it - you could buy a few with $130.. I know a few makers on Instagram that I'd recommend.
