Questions Re: Signature for Public Stuff

I was just asked for my signature, for use publicly, for promotional purposes. (Sort of like the way that Tom Brown's signature appears on the TOPS Tracker knife.)

I'm feeling uncomfortable about this. It just doesn't sit well with me to have my signature out there on public display, ready-made for anybody interested in forging my signature for ugly purposes. So, I have a few questions for anybody here who has familiarity or insight into this:

Am I being unnecessarily paranoid about my signature being used publicly? Do people whose signatures are used promotionally actually use their real signatures? What considerations should I be taking into account about this?

Thank you for any help you can provide.

Encrypt the "public" version w/ a subtle swirl, flourish or curlique that does not appear in your "real" legal signature so that any copy can be easily spotted as such. File same w/ notary and/or attorney.

Exactly. "Official" signatures are stylized, more drawn than written. In fact, I used to literally draw lettering and logos outsized and then reduce them dramatically (on a Xerox machine) to get a nice tight, clear, dark final copy.
