Questions regarding ELMAX

Good afternoon gents. I was browsing around the ZT lineup the other day and came across a few models with ELMAX steel. I just wanted to ask those with experience how this still compares to the usual suspects in terms of wear resistance, stainless properties, ect. Is it really worth the extra $$$ over S35VN for an EDC folder? Any information or shared experiences are greatly appreciated. Thanks!
 
Elmax is the bomb! Superior to S30V in every way and just seems to take alot better edge.

It's my favorite steel along with M390 and I think it's definitely worth the money
 
I just stroppped my 0560 and the edge is insane compared to my s30v leek. Maybe its the weight but it cuts way easier.
 
I'm a big fan of S30V but have been extremely impressed by Bohler's third-generation PM technology steels such as Elmax and M390. In my experience, both Elmax and M390 are a step above S30V in terms of wear resistance, toughness, and corrosion resistance.
 
Elmax is definately better than the S30V. I heard from someone that it is pretty similar to the S35V (which is in the 0550, while Elmax is in the 0551, and they're the same price). It most definately has better edge retention, and far more resistant to rust and corrosion. And the Carbon is not too high, so it won't be too brittle (compared to ZDP). From what I heard, it makes an excelent heavy-use material.
 
I was a member of a strider use forum once where some took their AR or GB Striders and punched them thru car hoods or roofs and took pictures. That was usually S30v steel and while they lost the sharp in almost all cases none took any damage. The cars took plenty of damage!

I can just imagine what the Elmax would be like. My 551 is like a Strider only a bit easier to carry. Thats a good thing! (Idea for thread with pics maybe? LOL )

Not exactly the same, but along the same lines...I've punched my S30V tanto Leek through a paint can a few times with no ill results.
